Reconstruction of the wallpaper in the Maid’s Room
Conservation works of the Maid’s Room that is located in the 2nd floor of the Castle were necessary as for a long time this particular interior was neglected due to permanent lack of financial sources. Plaster and historical wallpaper had cracks and there was a need to be repair. Thanks to obtained grant from the EEA and Norway Funds a spectacular change was possible.
The team of conservators had to force a complicated task in order to reconstruct damaged fragments of the wallpaper and then match new elements with historical surface. Cleaned and completed wallpaper with motive 'Parrots' presents itself really attractive. Visitors will have a chance to see it in next season – 2016.
Changes in the North Corridor
The North Corridor that leads to apartments in the 2nd floor obtained new colour. During realized tasks within the project, opencast stratigraphic works were made. Under a layer of post-war green paint, a previous pink color has been found. According to Directors’ decision, all interiors will be presented in pre-war décor, i.e. one can see the Corridor in new color- Pompeian pink.
Conservation works in the 1st floor of the Castle
Conservation works that have been carried out at the Castle Museum in Łańcut since last year, presently come to the end. In near future visitors will see the Ball Room and Sculpture Gallery completely renovated.
In the Ball Room conservators cleaned, repaired and preserved historical surface, including illusionistic sky painted on the ceiling or floor inlaid with oak and mahogany. To fill many cracks professionals had to choose coloristic new elements. Subtle colours regained their splendor that will be undoubtedly noticed by the audience of the 54. Music Festival in Lancut. Some concerts will take place at the Ball Room.
Wide range of colours presents also the Sculpture Gallery. This unique interior was cleaned from dust. The next stage consisted in filling gaps and cracks. The illusionist polychrome that was painted in the 18 c. still can be admired by its intensity of colours.
